Psychosocial Risk Awareness

A practical introduction for every worker: how work creates psychosocial risk, and what to do about it.

  • AudienceAll employees
  • Duration45–60 minutes
  • CodePRRR-01
  • Version1.0 · 2.6 MB ZIP

About this package

Most awareness sessions talk about stress, resilience and looking after yourself. This one talks about the work: the demands, the conditions and the systems that expose people to harm, and what a workplace does to control them.

Participants learn to tell a hazard from the harm it causes, to recognise exposure in their own work, and to raise a concern early and through the right channel. The PRRR™ Control Model is introduced in plain terms so that everyone shares the same language as their supervisors and managers.

Learning outcomes

After the session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the difference between a psychosocial hazard and the harm it can cause
  • Recognise common psychosocial hazards in their own work
  • Describe how the frequency, intensity and duration of exposure affect risk
  • Outline the four stages of the PRRR™ Control Model
  • Tell the difference between a control and a support arrangement
  • Describe how workers are consulted, and how to take part
  • Raise a psychosocial hazard or concern early, through the right channel

Questions about this package

Is this mental health awareness training?

No. It is about how work creates psychosocial risk and how workplaces control it. It does not train people to recognise or respond to mental illness.

Can supervisors deliver it?

Yes. It is designed for an internal facilitator such as a supervisor, WHS adviser or HR officer, using the facilitator guide.

Can we edit the documents?

Yes. Presentations, guides, workbooks and templates are supplied in editable formats so you can adapt them to your workplace. The copyright notice must stay.

Can we use the packages outside Australia?

Yes. The method (assess the work, control the risk, check the controls work) applies in any workplace and draws on ISO 45003, the international standard for psychological health and safety at work. The legal content refers to Australian work health and safety laws, so a business elsewhere should replace those slides with its own country's requirements. The materials are editable for exactly that.

Do participants get a certificate?

Yes. The four training packages each include an editable completion certificate template, plus an attendance register or training records spreadsheet, so you can keep proof of who completed the training for your WHS records. It is a certificate of completion issued by your business, not a nationally recognised qualification. The Implementation Toolkit is a set of workplace tools rather than a course, so it has no certificate.

Can we deliver it face to face and online?

Yes. The packages are designed for face-to-face sessions and work over a video meeting platform. The facilitator guide notes where an activity needs adjusting for online delivery.

Can we run it more than once?

Yes, as many times as you like, for your own organisation's workers.

What is your refund policy?

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected. See the Refund Policy for how we handle a package that is faulty, not as described, or not what you ordered.

Do we get future updates?

You keep the version you bought for as long as you use it, and corrections to that version are made available to you. A new edition, for example following a significant change in the law, may be sold separately.
