About this package

This is the technical package: role-based risk assessment, exposure, hazard interactions, the hierarchy of control, critical controls and verification. It is written for the person who will build and run the business's psychosocial risk management, whether that is a WHS or HR officer, an operations manager or the owner.

Participants work through complete risk assessments using worked examples and the same templates they will use afterwards. The emphasis is on controls that change the work, on knowing which controls matter most, and on evidence that those controls are in place and effective.

Learning outcomes

After the session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the psychosocial risk management duties that apply in their jurisdiction, including where Victoria differs
  • Apply the six-step process: Understand, Identify, Assess, Control, Verify, Optimise
  • Establish the work as done using all four sources of identification
  • Write exposure statements that name the role, the work, the conditions and the exposure
  • Assess exposure by frequency, intensity, duration and interaction, and map how hazards interact
  • Assess control effectiveness at the same time as the risk, giving no credit to unverified controls
  • Apply the Control Test, classify controls by PRRR™ stage and hierarchy tier, and keep support separate
  • Select controls that change the work, using the adapted hierarchy of control
  • Identify critical controls and write performance standards with failure criteria
  • Plan verification that tests existence, use and effectiveness
  • Set indicator thresholds from the organisation's own data, and close the loop through review

Questions about this package

Does completing this make someone a qualified practitioner?

No. It builds practical capability and includes an assessment, but it is not a qualification or a licence, and it is not nationally recognised training.

Will this work with our existing risk matrix?

Yes. The templates are editable and the facilitator manual explains how to align them with your organisation's risk framework.

Can we edit the documents?

Yes. Presentations, guides, workbooks and templates are supplied in editable formats so you can adapt them to your workplace. The copyright notice must stay.

Can we use the packages outside Australia?

Yes. The method (assess the work, control the risk, check the controls work) applies in any workplace and draws on ISO 45003, the international standard for psychological health and safety at work. The legal content refers to Australian work health and safety laws, so a business elsewhere should replace those slides with its own country's requirements. The materials are editable for exactly that.

Do participants get a certificate?

Yes. The four training packages each include an editable completion certificate template, plus an attendance register or training records spreadsheet, so you can keep proof of who completed the training for your WHS records. It is a certificate of completion issued by your business, not a nationally recognised qualification. The Implementation Toolkit is a set of workplace tools rather than a course, so it has no certificate.

Can we deliver it face to face and online?

Yes. The packages are designed for face-to-face sessions and work over a video meeting platform. The facilitator guide notes where an activity needs adjusting for online delivery.

Can we run it more than once?

Yes, as many times as you like, for your own organisation's workers.

What is your refund policy?

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected. See the Refund Policy for how we handle a package that is faulty, not as described, or not what you ordered.

Do we get future updates?

You keep the version you bought for as long as you use it, and corrections to that version are made available to you. A new edition, for example following a significant change in the law, may be sold separately.
