About this package

Training builds understanding; the toolkit is what people use afterwards. It contains the tools needed to run critical control management: identifying critical risks, building bowties, selecting and documenting critical controls, verifying them in the field and responding when one fails, organised into four stages.

An implementation guide explains how the tools fit together, the order to introduce them in, why to start with one critical risk rather than all of them at once, and how to adapt the tools to your organisation's existing risk framework.

Learning outcomes

With the toolkit in place, your organisation can:

  • Identify and prioritise critical risks consistently
  • Build bowties and select critical controls against clear criteria
  • Document each critical control with a performance standard and a named owner
  • Verify critical controls in the field on a planned schedule
  • Respond consistently when a critical control is missing or fails
  • Report critical control performance, and track corrective actions to completion

Questions about this package

Is this a training package?

No. It is a set of workplace tools with an implementation guide. It pairs with the Leadership and Practitioner packages, which teach the method the tools apply.

Does it include ready-made bowties for our critical risks?

It includes a blank bowtie template, a workshop facilitation guide and one fully worked example. Bowties are most useful when built with the people who do the work, so the toolkit is designed to help you build your own rather than adopt generic ones.

Can we edit the documents?

Yes. Presentations, guides, workbooks and templates are supplied in editable formats so you can adapt them to your workplace. The copyright notice must stay.

Can we use the packages outside Australia?

Yes. The method applies in any workplace and follows the same principles as ISO 31000 (risk management) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety management systems). The legal content refers to Australian work health and safety (WHS and OHS) laws, so a business elsewhere should replace those slides with its own country's requirements. The materials are editable for exactly that.

Do participants get a certificate?

No. The Implementation Toolkit is a set of workplace tools rather than a course, so it has no certificate. The training packages in the same series each include one.

Can we deliver it face to face and online?

Yes. The packages are designed for face-to-face sessions and work over a video meeting platform. The facilitator guide notes where an activity needs adjusting for online delivery.

Can we run it more than once?

Yes, as many times as you like, for your own organisation's workers.

What is your refund policy?

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected. See the Refund Policy for how we handle a package that is faulty, not as described, or not what you ordered.

Do we get future updates?

You keep the version you bought for as long as you use it, and corrections to that version are made available to you. A new edition, for example following a significant change in the law, may be sold separately.
